Creative writing - 16.05.2020
As I have said in my earlier post, I will be sharing some of my creative writing on this blog. It will mainly consist of free writes and short poems.
That little rose bush in my back garden
I remember buying you over 8 years about from a cheap flower stall in Catford. I didn’t think you would last as you were so small and fragile looking. I planted you and thought that I would only have a few pretty blooms for one season but as the years passed, you surprised me. You stood your ground even when the dandelions tried to push you out the way. You stood your ground when the neighbourhood cats constantly tried to dig you up. You even pushed back when the creeping buttercup tried to overtake you. You have been a constant presence in the garden, putting out your blooms from whites through to pink. A lovely view in a garden that is currently full of weeds and neglect. A lovely view in a garden that will flourish again with beauty. Until then, little rose bush, please continue to shine.
The Truth
The Truth
I told you a story,
you told me a lie,
as I watch you squirm,
wishing you would die.
You always said, ‘the truth prevails,’
But not with your unbelievable tales.
